The 2010 Kashy Formula Windsurf Festival will be held from April 29th, 2010 – May 2nd, 2010 at the beach front home of Melissa and David Kashy on York Point where the Poquoson River and Chisman Creek flow into the lower Chesapeake Bay in Seaford, VA, USA. Venue & Conditions
Racing will take place on the Chesapeake Bay at Beach Kashy on York Point in Seaford, VA.
Wind conditions are typically light to moderate thermal breezes to full on Nor’easters.
Average air temperature: Low is 50F and Air high 75 F (10C – 24C)
Average water temperature: 55-65 F / 13C- 18C
Average wind speed: predominantly SW-E-NW with a typical Easterly thermal (but not guaranteed) in the afternoons of 12-15 knots this time of year
Rules
This event will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012.
Eligibility
All competitors shall be current US Windsurfing Members. Competitors may join US Windsurfing or renew their memberships on site or online at www.uswindsurfing.org.
Classes, Divisions & Equipment
Competition will be held in the following class: Formula Class
Formula Class
This class will race when winds are between 10 knots and 25 knots or at the discretion of the Principal Race Officer (“PRO”).
Divisions
Formula PROFESSIONAL
Formula Lightweight (less than 190lbs – on registrars scale)
Formula Heavyweight (more than or equal to 190 lbs – on registrars scale)
Formula Women
Formula Juniors (boys and girls 17 years or less)
Equipment
Formula class competitors must register equipment at checking in accordance with Formula Class rules: (1) Formula Class board (3) Sails and (3) Fins (All models welcome ).
Prizes
The top racers in each class will be crowned Kashy Fin – Formula Windsurf Festival Champion in that class. Awards may be given to the first 3 in each division.
Measurement
It is the responsibility of each competitor to ensure that his/her sailboard and equipment conforms to Class Rules. Measurement and equipment checks may be made throughout the event.
Sail Insignias
All sails shall comply with Appendix B 2.4 Windsurfing Competition Rules of the RRS 2009-2012 (www.isaf.org). Rule B 2.4(b) is changed to: The sail identification shall be in the central third of that part of the sail above the wishbone, clearly separated from any advertising. Commercially available typefaces giving the same or better legibility than Helvetica are acceptable.
